Frequently asked questions

How do you protect user privacy?

We use privacy-by-design principles with no personal data collection, optional analytics, and full GDPR compliance. Users control their data and can opt out of any tracking.

How quickly can we see results?

Implementation takes 5 minutes with a single script tag. Users can immediately access features, and you can see analytics within 24 hours of deployment.

Is the widget compatible with my website platform?

Yes! Our widget works with all major platforms including WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, custom HTML sites, and content management systems.

Will the widget slow down my website?

No, our widget is optimized for performance. It loads asynchronously and weighs less than 50KB, ensuring minimal impact on your site's loading speed.

Can I customize the widget's appearance?

Yes, you can customize colors, position, size, and which features to enable through our admin dashboard to match your brand.

What is Accessibird?

Accessibird continuously improves your website's accessibility — automatically. Accessibird combines an AI Accessibility Widget, Checker, Monitor, and Analytics in one platform. Together, they detect issues, improve accessibility, continuously monitor your website, and help you permanently fix problems at the source — reducing compliance risks while supporting WCAG, EAA, and ADA standards.

Can I manage multiple websites?

Yes. Accessibird lets you monitor accessibility across multiple websites from one centralized dashboard, making it easy to track compliance, monitor improvements, and manage every property from a single account.

Does my website need to be WCAG compliant?

Yes. Accessibility is no longer optional. Regulations like the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) increasingly require businesses to make their websites accessible. Non-compliance can lead to complaints, legal action, lost customers, and costly remediation projects. Beyond compliance, an accessible website creates a better experience for every visitor and opens your business to millions of people with disabilities.

Do you offer a free plan?

Yes! You can start 100% free to deploy our basic widget. Please note: while the free widget is a great first step for visitor accessibility, it does not remediate code or support official WCAG compliance. When your business needs active code remediation, automated compliance monitoring, and AI alt-text generation to support EAA and ADA standards, you can upgrade at any time from just €20/month.

How does the Accessibility Checker work?

The Checker instantly scans your website for ADA and WCAG compliance issues. It identifies violations, explains why each matters, pinpoints the exact code location, and generates ready-to-use AI prompts for ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini so your team can fix them permanently at the source.

What can I learn from Accessibird Analytics?

Accessibird Analytics shows you exactly who needs accessibility on your website and which assistive features they use. You can see how many visitors rely on features like text resizing, contrast adjustments, screen-reader optimizations, and keyboard navigation, along with trends over time. This helps you prioritize improvements and demonstrate the real-world impact of your accessibility program.

Do I need a developer to install Accessibird?

No. Accessibird is a single line of JavaScript that works on any platform. Most site owners install it themselves in under five minutes. For CMS platforms like WordPress, Shopify, or Wix, you can paste it into a header or custom-code block — no developer required.

What does the Accessibility Monitor do?

The Monitor continuously watches your website for new accessibility issues as your content and code evolve. Instead of running a one-time audit, it re-scans on a schedule, tracks regressions, and alerts you when new problems appear — so compliance stays intact between releases.

Do you offer a partnership program for agencies?

Yes. Accessibird has a dedicated partnership program for agencies, freelancers, and consultants. You can manage unlimited client websites from one dashboard, deliver professional compliance reports, and earn recurring revenue as clients upgrade — without vendor lock-in.

Does this replace manual accessibility remediation?

No, the widget complements manual remediation by providing user-controlled accessibility features. It handles dynamic user preferences while manual work addresses structural issues.

Can users customize their experience?

Yes, users can create personalized profiles, save preferences, and get AI-powered feature recommendations based on their usage patterns.

How long does it take to install the widget?

Installation takes less than 5 minutes. Simply copy and paste our JavaScript code into your website's HTML, and the widget will be live immediately.

Is user data collected by the widget?

We prioritize privacy. The widget only stores accessibility preferences locally in the user's browser and doesn't collect personal information.

What's the difference between the free and paid Widget?

The free Widget operates strictly as a front-end assistance tool; it gives visitors essential controls (like text resizing and contrast) but does not remediate or modify your website's underlying code. Paid plans unlock active code remediation. The premium widget automatically fixes structural issues to reduce compliance risks under WCAG, EAA, and ADA standards, while activating AI alt-text generation, continuous monitoring, and source-code guidance.

How does Accessibird help with WCAG compliance?

Accessibird continuously follows a simple three-step process: Detect. Improve. Monitor. The Checker scans your website for accessibility issues, the AI Accessibility Widget immediately improves many visitor-facing barriers, and the Monitor continuously watches for new issues as your website evolves. Every remaining issue includes clear explanations, exact code locations, and practical solutions so your team can permanently improve accessibility.

Which CMS platforms are supported?

All major platforms. Accessibird works with WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Magento (Adobe), Wix, HubSpot, Framer, React, Vue, custom-built websites, and virtually any platform that allows you to add a single JavaScript snippet.

Why choose Accessibird over others?

Other platforms charge heavily for a widget only and bill you extra for monitoring. Most hide issues from the user without fixing the source. Accessibird is a hybrid solution. Our AI Widget instantly improves the front-end experience for your visitors, while our Checker and Monitor work behind the scenes to detect deeper WCAG errors. Instead of just flagging problems, we pinpoint exact code locations and generate ready-to-use AI prompts for ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini so you can fix them permanently. We focus on structural improvement, not just a temporary patch.

Does Accessibird affect website performance?

No. Accessibird uses a lightweight asynchronous script that loads after your main content. It has virtually no impact on loading speed, Core Web Vitals, SEO performance, or Google Lighthouse scores.

Can agencies manage multiple clients?

Absolutely. Accessibird is built for agencies and freelancers managing multiple websites. Manage all client projects from one dashboard, monitor accessibility continuously, deliver professional compliance reports, and help clients permanently resolve accessibility issues without vendor lock-in.

Which standards does the Checker test against?

The Checker validates your website against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 (Level A and AA) and the accessibility requirements referenced by the ADA and the European Accessibility Act (EAA).

Is analytics data privacy-safe?

Yes. Analytics are fully aggregated and anonymized. Accessibird does not collect personally identifiable information, and all processing complies with GDPR.

How often does Accessibird re-scan my website?

Paid plans include automated recurring scans at daily, weekly, or monthly intervals depending on your plan. You can also trigger a manual scan at any time from your dashboard.

How do agencies earn recurring revenue with Accessibird?

Partner agencies receive ongoing commissions on client subscriptions they bring to Accessibird. Combined with the ability to bill your own accessibility services on top of the platform, it creates a sustainable recurring revenue stream around compliance work.

What if our brand colors fail contrast requirements?

The widget includes intelligent contrast enhancement that works with your existing brand while ensuring accessibility standards are met through user-controlled adjustments.

What about website performance impact?

The widget is optimized for minimal impact with lazy loading, efficient CSS, and progressive enhancement. Typical performance impact is less than 50ms load time.

How does this support WCAG and EAA compliance?

The widget helps address many WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria and supports European Accessibility Act (EAA) obligations by giving visitors user-controlled accessibility features and by providing reporting to guide remediation. Full compliance still requires content, code, and manual review by your team.

Is training required for our team?

No training needed. The widget is self-managing with automatic updates. Admin dashboard provides insights without requiring accessibility expertise.

Why is Accessibird so affordable?

Other accessibility tools often hide their prices behind sales calls, sell you a basic widget, and then bill you heavily for monitoring and everything else. Accessibird changes that. We cut out expensive sales overhead, corporate demos, and legacy infrastructure. By building a highly automated, self-service platform, we include active code remediation, continuous monitoring, and AI tools in every paid plan, making comprehensive compliance support affordable for every business from just €20/month.

How long does setup take?

Five minutes. Simply add one line of JavaScript to your website. As soon as the script is live, your AI Accessibility Widget starts improving accessibility while Accessibird automatically begins scanning and monitoring your website.

Does Accessibird access my server or website data?

No. Accessibird operates entirely from the browser and never accesses your server, database, or sensitive customer information. Your website remains fully under your control while all processing complies with GDPR requirements.

Does Accessibird work with custom-built or headless websites?

Yes. Accessibird works on any website that can load a JavaScript snippet, including custom React, Vue, Next.js, Angular, and headless setups. There are no framework restrictions.

Does the widget comply with accessibility standards?

Our widget is built to align with WCAG 2.1 AA guidance and helps improve accessibility for visitors. It supports your compliance work but does not by itself make a website legally compliant — content, structure, and manual testing still matter.

Will the Widget make my website WCAG compliant?

No tool can honestly guarantee 100% compliance with one click. Accessibility depends on both technical implementation and content. Accessibird automates the vast majority — our AI Widget fixes issues instantly, generates missing alt text automatically, and guides developers with precise code-level fixes for what can't be automated. For most websites, that eliminates up to 90% of the manual work.

Why does the widget show a different language than I expected?
Accessibird shows the widget in your website's language. It looks at your page's language setting () first, then at the visitor's browser. If the language is wrong, check that your page has the right lang setting. To always use one language, add data-lang to your embed code, for example data-lang="de" for German. Visitors can still pick another language in the widget, and that choice is remembered on their device for your website.
